As we learn the letters it is fun to enjoy a food that begins with that letter to help make learning fun and meaningful. This hands-on experience helps children connect letters and their sounds to real world objects while building vocabulary and encouraging conversation. Most importantly, it makes learning memorable and gives students an exciting way to practice the letter and sound we are learning!

Why journal in Pre-K?

Pre-K journal entries, much like our self-portraits, are a weekly opportunity to build fine motor skills, confidence, and a love for self-expression. Rather than focusing on formal writing, our journals encourage emergent writing and literacy through drawing, scribbling, and dictated storytelling. I will give the students a prompt and invite them to share their ideas. I will write down their responses, and then they will illustrate what they told me through their drawings. Throughout the year, these journal entries will capture their growing imaginations, thoughts, feelings, and personalities. By the end of the year, you will have a wonderful collection of their ideas and artwork that shows just how much they have grown!

Solving Puzzles

Puzzles are more than just fun - they are an excellent way for children to learn and grow. As children work with puzzles, they strengthen their fine motor skills, develop perseverance, and practice problem-solving. Puzzles also support memory, encourage planning, and give children the opportunity to test out new ideas in a hands-on way.
