Soaking Up Every Minute!

DAR: Daughters of the American Revolution

It is a nonpolitical, non-profit women's service organization focused on historic preservation, education, and patriotism.

Each year St. James students are encouraged to submit art pieces, essays, and/or videos to the DAR of Texas. This year, the theme was “Honoring the Past and Celebrating the Future – The DAR Celebrates America 250”. A panel of judges chooses winners from each category. Congratulations to our 3rd grade winners!

Crater of Diamonds State Park

Our class took a trip to the world's only diamond-bearing site where the public can search for and keep the diamonds they find in a 37.5-acre plowed field, which sits atop an ancient volcanic pipe!!

We were given a course crash on what we could possibly find, other than diamonds.

Next, we hit the mine! The weather was beautiful and we had so many helping hands! (Thank you parents that traveled with us.)

Although we did not find any diamonds, we had fun digging and getting our hands dirty!

Spring Musical 2026: Beauty & The Beast JR.

Beauty and the Beast JR. is a shortened, kid-friendly stage version of the classic Disney story, designed especially for elementary and middle school performers. It’s based on the full Broadway musical Beauty and the Beast and the animated film Beauty and the Beast.

Third graders were magical onstage! They were a part of many scenes including; the villagers, an angry mob, and dancing dishes in the kitchen!

❤️Grandparent’s Day 2026❤️

Grandparents Day at St. James is so much more than a sweet tradition — it’s a powerful bridge between generations, families, and our school community.

Today we welcomed our Grandparents and special friends on campus to join us for Chapel and to enjoy performances by each grade level. From vocal renditions to reciting learned content in the classroom, students showcased knowledge through performing arts!

Our class recited the Books of the Bible, from Genesis to Revelations, as I kept them in sync by the beat of a bongo drum! Click on the link below to watch!

Grandparent's Day 2026

After Chapel, all visitors were encouraged to visit the classrooms around campus. In our classroom, we were prepared to show and tell!

Look at these precious fingerprint heart magnets, made with love for each set of grandparents!

A new tradition: “The Interview”

Last week the class helped me brainstorm questions they wanted to ask their grandparents. I then printed them on strips of paper and placed the questions in a basket. “What did you do for fun as a child?” “Do you remember your 3rd grade teachers name?” “What is your most embarrassing moment?” are just a few examples.

Today they executed our new tradition beautifully! It was a total hit with our grandparents!

Students were also excited to show off their writing skills with a polished piece titled…….“When I’m A Grandparent”. Along with their writing pieces, I used a photo generator to transform each student into an older version of themselves! This was quite a funny and creative assignment! The students did a superb job following the writing process!

The purpose of today was to celebrate legacy, faith, and family heritage! We hope our visitors felt appreciated and loved today and always!
