Our Parents Club is hosting an online auction for our families the week of Feb. 21. Each teacher contributes a sentimental piece of art made with help by the students. This year I chose to incorporate my love for string art and a brief history lesson of our town. Our town is literally divided by two states, Texas & Arkansas! And when you combine TX & AR with Louisiana, you get our wonderful town, Texarkana!
3rd graders sure were glowing after their science experiment last week! We studied a form of luminescence, fluorescent light. They mixed water, oil, salt, and the fluorescent chemical from their highlighters to make mini lava lamps. Who knew?!
Then a little fun was had!
Research with 1st Grade
While learning how to research, 3rd graders assisted the 1st graders with their, “All About Animals” project. Students browsed https://kids.nationalgeographic.com/ to discover where their animal lives, what it eats, and gave a few fun facts! I am so proud of the comrade both classes displayed! 1st grade then invited us to hear their presentations and see our commons transformed into a zoo!
Can you believe year 2021 is over?! We still have so much more to learn in 3rd grade!! But first, let’s reflect!
December 2021- Students are becoming fluent in multiplication! We completed our 1st novel study and attended Candlelight this year in person!!
Thank you, Ben Mayo for supplying boards to our class! Students sanded, nailed and strung yarn to create holiday decor. They gave it as a Christmas gift to their parents. The effort and time these students put into this project is so sweet to watch.
On Broadway, "Annie" is legendary. In fact, before the movie hit theatres in 1982, it had already been established as one of the best musicals on Broadway!
3rd grade was invited to watch a performance of “Annie” right here in our very own town! And to add to the excitement, 2 of our fellow students, Sadie Harp & Alexis Mayo shared the role of Annie herself!
One of the MANY benefits of being a St. James student is experiencing live musical productions from the audience AND as part of the cast onstage! (Our spring musical is on the calendar for March 2022)
Bet your bottom dollar that the show was fantastic!
