First Library Visit, fall art and Bingo!
We have had a busy few weeks in Kindergarten! After returning from Labor Day, we kicked off the week with our first library visit of the year. The students absolutely loved jumping on the sensory path to enter the library, sitting in the cozy chairs but most of all, listening to Mrs. Emily read to us! The students got to explore the library independently, learn how to use shelf markers and check out their first library books as Kindergartners. It was so wonderful seeing the excitement on their faces as they read their newly checked out books to each other.
As the season changes from summer to fall, the students are exploring what autumn is all about. In the classroom we have read all about fall, learning why the leaves change and asking “why does the season change at all?” Ms. L also explored the new season with the students, letting them use their creativity to creat beautiful fall trees while learning about different mediums used in art. The colorful trees were created using torn bits of paper, markers and water. The result of the students creativity really set the fall mood in the classroom and they were so proud of their art hanging on the wall.
Finally, we ended our week with a few fun rounds of “subitizing bingo”! The students have been working so hard creating groups and recognizing “how many”, so a little fun was meant to be had! Watching them whisper to each other excitedly about how many more they needed and feeling the anticipation build as we neared an inevitable “Bingo!” made the perfect ending to a fun week.
