Welcome Back

We’ve had a great start to kindergarten! We’ve spent a lot of time getting used to our new routines and learning what kindergarten is all about. We ended our week with a fun STEM activity based on the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. The students worked with a partner to build their own Coconut tree and then get their alphabet to balance without falling. It was loud, it was chaotic, and many letters fell but the students learned to work together and listen to each other’s ideas!

Mommy Spa

Mommy Spa is an event I look forward to every year! It is such a sweet gift of spending time together for busy families. Kindergarten worked hard to prepare this special day for the ladies that work so tirelessly for us all year. The students styled hair, painted nails, gave massages, served snacks, and showed off their artwork.

Gala Project

Each class provides a project to auction at the St James Gala. My husband is such a trooper and offers to build something with the kindergarteners. This year we built a tiered planter box. The students loved getting to sand the wood and operate real tools to put together their planter.

A Season of Giving

Kindergarten worked hard to gather supplies for 18 cold weather bags in December! We collected and packed these bags in our classroom then donated them to Hands On Texarkana where they were given to local senior citizens. We filled the bags with basics like soup, crackers, and Kleenex and also with treats like Christmas cookies and cozy socks!

Field Trip Fun

We had so much fun at Dixie Maze Farms for our fall field trip. The weather was perfect and it was wonderful to spend the day outside. The students loved the big slides and pony rides and the corn maze was also a favorite. Personally, I enjoyed the smaller zinnia maze better!
