Newton's Laws: Student Edition

By Lori Altenbaumer, 7th/8th Math & Science

Our 8th graders have been hard at work bringing Newton’s Three Laws of Motion to life! For this project, each group was assigned an everyday object and challenged to create a 90-second video that demonstrates and explains all three laws in action.

The results are creative, engaging, and educational- showing how physics is woven into the world around us. From sports equipment to classroom supplies, students found clever ways to prove that Newton’s Laws truly are everywhere.

Each video includes:

  • A clear demonstration of all three laws of motion

  • An explanation of how the object models the physics

  • Editing to make it both fun and informative

This project asks students to go beyond simply memorizing definitions. Instead, they must apply their knowledge, collaborate with peers, and present their understanding in a way that others can learn from - all while having a lot of fun!
