Project Linus, a Community Service Project

3rd graders were given the opportunity to become “blanketeers” this morning by making fleece knot blankets for children ages 1-18 who have experienced trauma. Blankets will be delivered to children in hospitals within our 7 local counties in Northeast Texas.

For more information on how you can become a “blanketeer”, please visit https://www.projectlinus.org/

Lower School Candlelight

St. James has many great traditions. Our candlelight service is in the top 3!! This is a special event, held close to Christmas, to bring our school community together for a peaceful and meaningful celebration.

This tradition and beloved program is calm and respectful, celebrating togetherness and spreading warmth during the holiday season.

My Lower School coworkers have been such a blessing at St. James Day School. Teamwork and collaboration is vital in any school!

Before Christmas break, our class celebrated with a cozy pajama Christmas party! Hot coco, breakfast, and sweet snacks were devoured and we ended it with a few fun games!

Lower School Chili Feast

A Chili Feast for Thanksgiving in school is a fun event where students, teachers, and families come together to enjoy a warm, hearty meal. Instead of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, everyone gets to try different kinds of chili, like spicy, mild, or even vegetarian. The feast is a way to celebrate the holiday season with friends, share delicious food, and enjoy a cozy, festive time together!

Election Day, We Voted!

A mock presidential election in elementary school is an educational activity where students stimulate the process of voting for the next president of the United States. This hands-on learning helps young learners understand the importance of voting and the steps involved in an election.

Poetry Cafe

A poetry cafe is a fun and cozy place where people share poems! Imagine a room with soft lights, comfy chairs, and maybe some music playing quietly in the background. People take turns reading poems they have written or poems they love. Everyone listens closely and claps to show their support. We had a coffee bar and snacks! It was memorable to hear creative words, feel different emotions, and listen to their Own ideas through poetry.

Book Character Day

Book Character Day in elementary school is a fun event where kids get to dress up as their favorite characters from books! You can pick a character you love, like a brave hero, a magical wizard, or even a funny animal. Then, you dress up in a costume that matches how the character looks. This St. James tradition is a great way to celebrate books, use your imagination, and share your favorite stories with friends!
