Spring into action

We had a BALL!

This week we talked about materials that balls are made of. The children examined balls made of glass, marble, sand , play -doh , plastic and yarn. The marbles were a hit!

Letter W

Where do you start your letter? The paintbrushes moved from the top the bottom of the page as the children made a letter W with paint.

The children used balls to make A B patterns.

Gross Motor Workout

During P.E. this week the class had to follow the directions on the color card and complete the task. The children jumped, walked , galloped, and turned around in a circle. They had a great time!

The Ball Unit

The students used a parachute to move a ball this week. We learned about forces that make a ball move.

TWINKLES THE TOOTH FAIRY

We enjoyed our educational visit from Twinkles. Twinkles is employed with Pediatric Dentistry Of Texarkana and were amazed at her presentation. The students learned to brush their teeth two times a day for two minutes. She used posters to show us foods that are good or bad for our teeth. The highlight of her visit was the fairy dust. Twinkles used the fairly dust to help the children remember to brush their teeth. All in all it was a great visit.

SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW

The children had to sort the colored cereal and make a rainbow. This activity help your child with fine motor skills and color recognition.

Busy With Buiildings

It takes a big truck to help construct a building

Mr. LeJeune showed us his truck and talked about his job. Mr.LeJeune works for a trucking company and he delivers materials in our area. Mia was thrilled to help her dad as he explained the parts of the truck. A special thank you to Mr. LeJeune for taking time out of his day to make our day special.

A visit from Mrs. Courtney

We listened to our heartbeat with Mrs. Courtney. She told us about her job as a P. A.. Wyatt was overjoyed to have his mom in our class. A special thank you to Mrs. Courtney for visiting our class. Wr learned what happens inside of buildings.

Mrs. Coffee stops by for a visit

Adaline's mom is a nurse that works in a building and she visits sick people in their home. Adaline was ready to be a helper as we checked our blood pressure and our heart rate. A special thank you to Mrs. Coffee for stopping by our classroom.

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss !

A special thank you to Mrs. Lisa for reading FOX IN SOX to us. Mrs. Lisa is a retired teacher from St. James and she made our day. We learned a little bit about Dr. Seuss and we discussed rhyming words.

Let’s talk about buildings

What happens inside of buildings?

What a blast this week as we discussed our topic sentence - What happens inside of buildings?

The children wrote letters to each other and we mailed them from the St.James mailbox. Everyone had a blast as they used the stamp and delivered mail in the classroom. Keep your eye on the mailbox.

Mrs. Craig and the team from Reliance

We felt a blast of cold air as we learned how an air conditioner unit cools a building.! A special thank you to Reliance and Mrs. Craig for setting up this wonderful presentation. Finley was excited to help her mom !

Addition and Subtraction

The children used addition and subtraction this week. I put out cubes for the children to practice adding to and taking away. After we used the cubes , it was time to use scissors and glue to solve math problems on paper.

The Vet Clinic

The students took turns pretending to be a vet. Social skills were thriving as each child used their voice to discuss their pet and its condition. The children learned that animals are taken care of inside of a building.
