Back to School and Episcopal Schools Week

The students have been learning a lot in Music class. Sixth grade students are learning about the Baroque composers. They are also playing the ukulele. They are learning tunes such as "Are You Sleeping" and "Ode to Joy" on the ukulele. Fifth grade students are practicing the drums. They have rehearsed 2 drum ensembles. In addition to the drums, they are learning about the Orchestra instruments. They are learning to recognize the instruments by sound. The Fourth grade students are learning the recorders. They are earning colored belts to put on the end of the recorder once they have conquered their piece. They are practicing " Rain, Rain Go Away" and "Gently Sleep". Third grade students are learning the notes to the recorder. Notes "B", "A" and "G" are being practiced. Students in Second through Primary are learning fun songs. "Henry the Octopus", "Doe a Deer", and "On Top of Spaghetti" are a few favorites.

 

EPISCOPAL SCHOOLS WEEK!


Saint James Church is celebrating Episcopal Schools week on Sunday October 1, 2017. The students of Saint James Day School have been invited to sing as the choir on Sunday morning. Students in the Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth grade classes are invited to participate.

Students should arrive as Saint James Church (417 Olive St., Texarkana, TX 75501) on Sunday morning, October 1 at 9:00am for dress rehearsal. The students will be singing "Sing a New Song to the Lord". They should wear their dress uniform. The service will begin at 10:00am. It should last about an hour.
